THE METROPOLITAN OPERA
Faust is a classic opera of a man who makes a deal with the devil to remain young, yet suffers lifelong consequences as a result. The concept is very thrilling and with the devil as a main character creates a theme of suspense which is at its full effect with the man’s despair. Using red and the classic devil horns, I wanted to recreate the feeling of horror using bold illustration and type when you see what he’s done to the main character both in his old age and in his revived youth. The illustration is the main focal point of this piece as it acts to show the emotional and visual effect this opera can have on the audience.
